Pre-Production for Maze Game

Kingsley Farrell
Pre-Production for Maze Game

Like to know more about Pre-Production? Read my blog to give you an overview of what you need to know about planning a production and getting started And well prepared to start creating a project: http://brownfurgaming.blogspot.co.uk/

Finance –

I have all the equipment I need to create my game because I'm creating it in College, If I didn't have these resources I would use a Kick-starter to fund my game and if I promote my game well, the bigger reception I will get will lead to the game receiving more money and maybe could expand the game further into a bigger production.

Time –
I have never made a game before and I have little experience, so to create a game it would take around 4 to 6 weeks, As this is the first game I have created, I can only make an educated guess as to how long it will take to create a maze game using Gamemaker. I estimate the process of planning, designing and development of my maze game to take approximately 2-3 weeks.

Personnel -
I'm creating this game on my own and will have no help from anyone else, if I had the finances, I would create a small team and assign roles to speed up production time and hire experienced people in each roles, for Example An artist.

Facilities -

I'm creating the game in Educational Facility (College), So I already have all the equipment I need, this includes £500 – Game Maker Master Edition, £190 year subscription of Photoshop and A computer, this would cost around £1,200 for a high specification computer and would be perfect for creating games.

Contributors -
I will using Non copyrighted sounds and Image websites to get Non copyrighted images to improve my game in areas what i cant do myself, as I'm not experienced in creating music.
There are plently of sites to get stock images and music from, for example: Getty Images, Shutterstock, YouTube.

Locations –
My game will be based on Ninjas and will be Located in Japan, so they look of the the game will be influenced by Japanese Culture and be very symbolic, If I had the money, I would find out more about Japanese history by researching in Japan, find information about Ninjas and Japanese way of life.

Codes of practice and regulation -
In the UK, Video games are rated by the PEGI rating system, If I published the game and put it out for sale, it would have to checked by PEGI and other Regulatory bodies and if I made a Trailer I would have to check with ASA and OFCOM if the content of the Trailer is not offensive, harmful and follows all the codes and polices to make sure it's allowed for public viewing.
